TV 25 Website

In my web design class, the whole class got to meet an actual client for a website. The client we had was Brian Short from TV 25. TV 25 is a TV station that is free over the air and they look like cable channels, but they’re not. TV 25 is only available when you buy an antenna. What we Mr. Short wanted was he wanted a new website for his station. Some items that Mr. Short wanted on the website was weather info, his Facebook feed, and his most recent YouTube feed. Mr. Short also didn’t want a scrollbar, but if there had to be a scroll bar then he wanted it to be a big one so people didn’t have to scroll down too far to get to what they want.

Before we could start working on the computers we had to do some sketches of a new logo and we also did some mock ups of what we want the website to look like on Adobe Illustrator. For the mock ups of the website we had to make it look like it was a screenshot of an actual webpage, so we had to add colors and images to it. After we pitched our ideas of what we wanted the website to look like to Mr. Short we were able to start putting the actual website together in Dreamweaver.

My website didn’t turn out as good as I wanted it to because my project management skill wasn’t that great during the process. Something that I am going to try to change about my website is the background color, so that it doesn’t look so bland. Another thing I would change about my website is to include what Mr. Short had suggested when I pitched my website to him, which was adding RSS feed on the sides of the carousel, so the page doesn’t have a lot of white space.

Something that I learned about this project is that when meeting an actual client can be really stressful. I also learned how to put a carousel into a website. I also learned that when you meet with a client there may be some things that you don’t like about what they want in there and that’s okay.

On the left I have put my ideas of logos that I thought would look great on the TV 25 website. After making some sketches I put it in illustrator and added the colors red and black. As you can see on the right I made different versions of each logo, but I only changed a few things on each one. For example, I changed the fonts on every different design and on some I just added a small detail to the logo.

Something I also did was doing a sketch up of what I want my website to look like. After finishing my website sketch up I moved into Illustrator and designed it how I liked it. I didn't add any color or pictures to it, but I should have.

Now after we had pitched those ideas to Mr. Short we had to start working on our actual working website. To view my website and see how it turned out click on this link. TV 25 Website

Here on the left you can see of what the home page looks like when you first click on it. On the right side you can see the bottom of the page from the Home Page.

On the top of the Home Page there is a carousel and
in the carousel there is 3 images. The first one is the rate sheet of TV 25, the second is the recent youtube video that they have, and the 3rd image is the coverage map of the TV 25.

The second page that I had was the How to watch page. On the left you can see what my page had turned out. On the right you can see my third page which was my contact page. On my contact page it had 3 links: Facebook, youtube, and twitter link. It also had a table filled with FAQ's that they have been asked a lot.

Overall I think I could have done a way better job on my website if I tried a little harder and if I stayed on task more.
